On Monday, I had the incredible honor of being inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) at Southern Connecticut State University, joining a distinguished national society that recognizes leadership, scholarship, and service. This moment was not just a personal achievement, but also a reaffirmation of my commitment to making a meaningful impact on campus and beyond.
Founded in 1914, ODK is one of the oldest and most prestigious leadership honor societies in the country, recognizing students who excel in five key pillars of campus life:
- Scholarship – Dedication to academic excellence.
- Campus or Community Service, Social & Religious Activities, and Campus Government – Commitment to civic engagement and leadership.
- Journalism, Speech, and the Mass Media – Advocacy and communication in public forums.
- Creative and Performing Arts – Contributions to cultural and artistic expression.
- Athletics – Excellence in teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Being recognized among 64 student leaders who share a passion for service and innovation was an inspiring experience. It was also a privilege to witness the induction of Thierry Thesatus, Associate Dean of Career and Student Success, as an honorary faculty member in recognition of his dedication to student success and leadership development.
This induction represents more than an accolade—it’s a responsibility to continue fostering a culture of leadership and service at Southern. I’m grateful to the ODK Executive Board, advisors, and my support system for making this moment so meaningful. I look forward to contributing to ODK’s mission and growing alongside a network of driven and accomplished peers.
